United StatesDan is the strategic planning lead across Unilever’s Beauty & Personal Care (BPC) brands for the U.S., managing a team of 30 strategy planners, and oversees the investment and analytics team of 100+, across brands such as Dove, Dove Men + Care, Degree, Suave, TRESemmé, Vaseline, and Axe. He and his team lead full-funnel planning, from awareness and purpose-led initiatives through to conversion and commerce-led campaigns. In fact, Dan and his team’s work on the Dove ‘Courage is Beautiful’ campaign was recognized at the 2021 Cannes Lions awards, winning a Cannes Grand Prix. In the past year, Dan led several initiatives that successfully advanced the business of Unilever.
That includes driving two significantly bold campaigns for the Dove brand, both focused on cultural initiatives for young women. First raising awareness of anti-hair discrimination laws through The Crown Act, and second, working to combat self-esteem issues in young women through the Selfie Talk campaign. This campaign involved a first-to-market partnership with TikTok and was recognized as a top Brand Culture Driver by TikTok in 2021 Dan is incredibly passionate about this industry and where it’s going, especially in using media as a force of good. That passion can be felt across the work in this submission.
