In 2023 Special grew, becoming an APAC network, in their own way. Not wanting to follow the traditional network model, but to turn it upside down instead.

Growing from the bottom of the world, to proudly now sit on top. Named APAC Effie ‘APAC Agency of the Year, awarded ‘Agency Network of the Year’, sweeping all NZ ‘Agency of the Year’ titles, and named Australia’s B&T’s ‘Grand Prix Agency of the Year’ (for the 3rd time in four years). There’s no local ‘Agency of the Year’ award that doesn’t have the name ‘Special’ engraved on it... But for Special, they have gone further than any APAC network before, being named ‘Global Creative Agency of the Year’ by Campaign UK, ‘Independent Agency of the Year’ at Cannes for strategy, and ranked by Effie Global Index as ‘The most effective independent agency in the world’. These are accomplishments that no other agency or network from APAC have ever won. Add to that 29 new business wins, 50% billings growth - it’s been a perfect year for all offices in the network. Special has grabbed the marketing world’s attention, shining a spotlight on how good marketers and the industry is in Asia Pacific.
